The Authority is providing adequate flow and pressure in meeting the demand of our wholesale customers. The Boil Water Notice must remain in effect until the City of Houston rescinds their BWN.
At this time, the Authority is receiving approximately 5.8 million gallons per day (“MGD”) from the City, only 18% of our contracted amount. The Authority will continue to provide as much water as possible to our wholesale customers during this time, while maintaining adequate pressures within our system.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
Due to the continuing, unprecedented winter weather, operational challenges at City of Houston facilities has resulted in the disruption of the Authority’s incoming water supply from the City.
